| Abstract | We investigated the complexity of blood flow in intracranial aneurysms in terms of the frequency spectrum of pointwise velocity and pressure fluctuations. The investigations were performed using high-resolution computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations for patient-specific middle cerebral artery (MCA) aneurysms, using realistic inflow profile. Through these simulations, the study confirmed that complex transitional flow can occur in intracranial aneurysms. In particular, we found fluctuations of the order of 500- 1000 Hz. |
